What if ...

Last night I had a dream. I was suddenly in a very different place. At first I had no idea where it was or how I got there, and it didn't matter. For some unexplainable reason all the things that used to mean anything at all didn't even come to mind. The only thing that made sense was that I was there. I had never felt like that before. Something was always pressing. I had some appointment. There was some deadline. Remarkably though, in this place, I was at peace. I wasn't late. I wasn't in a hurry. There were no goals. No one was pushing me, and there were no worries.

I was immersed in an incredible sense of well being and contentment. It was finished. Somehow I just grasped an overwhelming assurance that I was done. Just when I began to realize, if I were not taken away from this place, these feelings would never end, someone approached me. She wanted me to go with her. "Why?," I asked. "Where are we going?" I noticed we were already moving rapidly from my tranquil place to a room full of people.

My mind raced with confusion. I thought, "What do they want? Why are we here? Can't I go back to where I felt so good?" Except for my thoughts, the room was quiet. Then I became aware of singing. I looked toward the sound, and I saw a large white throne surrounded by magnificent creatures. It was the creatures that were singing. They were praising God and directing the praise to the person sitting on the throne. "Oh my God," I gasped, and I fell to my knees. I began to worship Him too. I said, "Oh God, you are Lord over everything and I beg you for mercy." In answer, He motioned to one of His guards. The heavenly being pointed to an area directly in front of me, and I began to see my life.

My entire existence was outlined before me in the form of a computer screen containing four major file folders labeled; Talents, Treasures, Times, and Tests. Each folder was opened one at a time. I learned that every life, including mine, was alloted each of the four items. What I had chosen to do with the gifts I had been given were all recorded. Everyone in the room watched as how I had squelched my talents, wasted my treasures, squandered my time, and failed my tests were replayed to my shame. One subfolder entitled, "Sexual Tests" was opened. I was embarrassed. They were learning my deepest secrets. I felt dirty, and I wanted it to end. But, it didn't end. On and on. Folder after folder. Person after person. Even the people I had only thought were sexy were shone on the screen. "Oh no." "Not that one," I cried. I didn't want God to see that.

Finally, after what seemed to be years of review, an angel came forward and told me that, according to all the records in their books of remembrance, I was guilty of sin. I knew from reading the Bible that guilt of sin meant death. Another angel asked, "How do you plea?" It was obvious to everyone that had witnessed my life that I was a sinner. So, that's what I said. "I am a sinner. I don't plead guilty though. I plead the blood of Jesus." Another file was opened entitled, "The Lamb's Book of Life." On the screen came the moment of my submission. That time I had knelt down in my bedroom, used my bed for an alter, and prayed to God was shown. I had asked God to forgive me of my sins. I had asked Jesus to come into my heart. I believed then that I was saved, but what I hadn't seen was the scene before me now. Jesus had come into my heart that night and began deleting the folders I had stored up. There were only icons of blood drops where the folders had been. All the folders on the screen everyone had seen were dissolving before our eyes. God, from His throne spoke and said, "I find no fault in him. I see only the blood." Jesus said, "Well done my good and faithful servant. Enter into your rest." I was then led back to that peaceful place I had been before. Now though there were hundreds of others too. We were all so happy and grateful.

What about you? Have you ever prayed and submitted to God asking for forgiveness of your sins? What's in your folders? What will you plead on that day? What if there is a God? What if you have to answer for what you did with your gifts?

Perhaps reading this has caused you to realize that you too need to change. Maybe, you already knew that. Either way... why don't you quit putting off what you know you inevitably need to do sooner or later. Why not make a decision right now to turn to God. Tomorrow may never come in your life. If your life ends before you turn to God, it will be too late. Now is the time. That is why you are reading this. It is no accident. You were suppose to consider your ways today. If you want to have your moment of submission to God, repeat the prayer below and start your new life right now.

Say this prayer...

“Heavenly Father, I know I have made mistakes, and I am sorry. I know I have made a mess in my life, and I believe you can change me. Help me to be better. I turn to you now, and I ask for forgiveness of all my sins. Place my wrongs under the blood of your son, Jesus, and remember them no more. I believe it, and I receive it in Jesus' name. Amen.”
